SPI Health and Safety, a Blainville, Que.-based provider of personal protective equipment (PPE) and occupational health and safety (OHS) services, announced its acquisition of SSTenligne, an online health and safety training provider in Quebec.
The acquisition, SPI’s 24th since its founding in 1972, is part of its ongoing strategy to enhance its OHS offerings and expand digital access to workplace training in Quebec and across Canada.
SSTenligne, established in 2014, delivers over 40 training courses on various safety topics, including risk assessment, working at heights, WHMIS, and ergonomics, tailored for businesses from small enterprises to large corporations. According to SPI, the online training provider serves close to 15,000 client companies and attracts 300 new users each day. SSTenligne’s courses are designed to replicate realistic industrial environments through professional video content and cover essential regulatory updates.
The integration will allow SPI and SSTenligne to collaborate while remaining operationally separate, with no anticipated changes for clients and suppliers over the next year. Martin Fiset, General Manager of SSTenligne, described the acquisition as a chance to “combine our strengths and continue advancing the culture of health and safety across Quebec and Canada,” adding that SSTenligne’s commitment to innovative training aligns with SPI’s mission to protect workers.
SPI President Kim Levesque echoed this sentiment, noting that SSTenligne’s resources enhance SPI’s ability to meet growing client demands. “Our vision is to protect workers, and with SSTenligne, 45 workers are protected every hour,” Levesque said.
This acquisition follows SPI’s recent strategic partnership with Quebec-based consulting firm Intervention Prévention, announced in June, and the purchase of Ontario-based Rubicon Safety and Quebec PPE provider CONFIAN over the past three years. SPI stated these moves strengthen its position as a comprehensive safety solutions provider, with services that now encompass a broad range of training, equipment, and consulting options for Canadian businesses.
