JA Solar has signed the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, pledging to incorporate the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) into its strategy and operations.

JA Solar’s initiative involves a comprehensive adherence to principles of openness, fairness, and impartiality in employment practices. The company strictly follows the Labour Law of the People’s Republic of China and other relevant regulations, including international standards such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labour Organization Conventions, it said in a press release. These efforts aim to establish a robust internal management system that upholds gender equality and ensures equal pay for equal work.

By aligning with the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles, JA Solar is reinforcing its commitment to protecting the rights and interests of female employees and fostering an equitable workplace environment. The company has implemented policies to guarantee the labour rights of female employees, offering maternity leave, parental leave, breastfeeding leave, and various special allowances. On Women’s Day, JA Solar provides additional benefits and organizes entertainment activities for female staff.

JA Solar has also joined the Forward Faster initiative by the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), aiming to achieve gender equality and empower women across all levels of management by 2030. The company strives for equal representation, participation, and leadership of women, while working to eliminate barriers that hinder women’s workforce entry and creating an inclusive environment of mutual respect and empowerment for all employees.

In 2023, the company reported significant participation of female employees in training programs, with a total of 368,336 person-times and an average of 57.8 hours of training per female employee. Additionally, women make up 33% of JA Solar’s board of directors and 67% of its supervisory board.
