American Express Canada has been named one of the Greater Toronto Area’s Top Employers for 2024, marking the seventh consecutive year the company has received the accolade from Mediacorp Canada Inc.
The recognition is part of Mediacorp’s annual competition that evaluates workplaces based on criteria such as work atmosphere, benefits, performance management, training and development, and community involvement.
Annette Kingsley, vice-president of colleague experience at American Express Canada, said the company prioritizes creating an environment where employees feel valued and supported. “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to the colleague experience and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcomed and supported during moments that really matter to them,” she said.
American Express highlighted several initiatives contributing to its workplace culture, including a Job Exchange program launched this year to help employees develop their skills and explore career opportunities within the company.
Mental health support is also a key focus, with the company’s Healthy Minds program offering counselling and a global health concierge service to improve access to licensed mental health professionals. Family benefits have been expanded to include increased fertility benefits, adoption and surrogacy coverage, and enhanced parental leave for non-birthing parents.
The company also promotes diversity and inclusion through 13 colleague networks in Canada, which connect employees with shared experiences and interests, and a campus recruitment program aimed at building a talent pipeline through hands-on work experiences for interns.
Mediacorp Canada Inc. has been publishing its Top Employers lists since 1999, evaluating organizations across Canada on their efforts to create exceptional workplaces.
American Express has operated in Canada since 1853, providing a range of consumer and business services.
