Employers should prepare for new HR trends in 2025, including AI regulations, skill development and employee well-being, according to insights released by ADP on Monday.

ADP identified several areas where the workplace is expected to evolve in the coming year. The company highlighted the ongoing importance of the employee experience and well-being, noting that a positive experience can drive engagement and productivity. Employers are encouraged to personalize tasks, tailor communication and recognition, and help employees manage workloads to address stress and burnout.

“Prioritizing ways to help employees manage their workloads and setting realistic expectations will help employers tackle employee stress and burnout,” ADP said in a press release.

Skills are also emerging as a strong indicator of employee success. ADP said a skills-based approach to talent can shift the focus from traditional qualifications to a person’s abilities. Employers should consider upskilling employees by introducing additional skills or reskilling them to take on new roles as work continues to change.

New laws are shaping how AI is developed and used in employment decisions. As AI becomes more ingrained in workplace technologies, laws around data use will continue to evolve. ADP advised employers to monitor new legislation, comply with laws on AI systems and use AI effectively and responsibly.

Pay equity and pay transparency remain business priorities, with some localities requiring organizations to analyze and report pay gaps and provide more information about pay. Employers should monitor evolving legislation and understand their pay data to address any pay gaps and comply with transparency laws, ADP said.

Generative AI continues to revolutionize HR, jobs and the workforce. ADP noted that organizations are exploring how to best use the technology to drive productivity and introduce new ways of working. The focus should be on eliminating friction points for employees so they can focus on their work.

Firms are looking to expand skills to benefit from emerging technologies. ADP said employers should consider offering employees opportunities to experiment with generative AI in a safe, predefined manner to help drive innovation.
