CareerCycles launches program to help professionals assess work satisfaction

by HR News Canada

CareerCycles, a Toronto-based career management social enterprise, has introduced a new program aimed at helping professionals evaluate and enhance their career satisfaction.

The Career Check-Up program offers a 75-minute virtual session with a trained career counsellor, preceded by a reflective questionnaire that gathers insights into a client’s work history, goals, and challenges. The program culminates in a tailored plan for actionable next steps to improve career wellness, said Mark Franklin, founder and practice leader at CareerCycles.

“People go to the doctor for regular physical check-ups, so why not do the same for your work health?” said Franklin. “When workers take time for intentional reflection about their career trajectory, especially with the help of a trained professional, they can identify concrete steps to ensure their work aligns with their values.”

Participants in the program also gain access to CareerCycles’ Online Storyteller, a platform designed to guide clients through narrative reflection. Franklin said this aligns with the company’s philosophy of viewing career as an integral part of life.

“We define your ‘career’ as the full expression of who you are and how you want to be in the world,” Franklin said. “Life changes happen in cycles, so adding a career check-up to your routine makes sense.”

Leigh Anne Saxe, a practice co-lead at CareerCycles, said the program responds to the growing interest among workers in finding a balance between personal fulfilment and making a positive impact. “Many workers today are keen to balance doing well for themselves and doing good in the world,” Saxe said. “Our counsellors work to understand clients’ strengths and desires, then link them to fulfilling work.”

The program aims to provide clarity for professionals at various stages of their careers, whether they are seeking a promotion, exploring a transition, or simply looking for ways to align their work with their values.
