freelance.ca has announced the acquisition of Workhoppers, a platform for freelance professionals.
“We are delighted with the acquisition of Workhoppers and are convinced that this represents a win-win situation for all parties involved,” said Simon Gravel, CEO of freelance.ca. He highlighted the potential for the expanded platform to offer about 100 new projects daily by year’s end, indicating a significant boost in activity and opportunities for freelancers.
Workhoppers, established in 2012, has become known for its flexible work placements and a matching system that connects freelancers with businesses. By integrating these services, freelance.ca expects to provide more extensive project opportunities and a broader pool of skilled professionals to Canadian companies.
“This development aims to establish us as a leader in the Canadian freelancer market,” Gravel said, noting the synergistic potential between the two companies.
Linda Singer, Co-founder of Workhoppers, shared her optimism about joining forces with freelance.ca.
“We are excited to join the freelance family. I love the freelance.ca team, their vision for the future, and their model that has been so successful in Europe,” Singer said. She emphasized the benefits to the Workhoppers community, which will continue to grow under the expanded network.
Vera Gavizon, another Co-founder of Workhoppers, also remarked on the advantages of the merger.
“This acquisition will give Workhoppers the necessary resources to effectively serve not only its community of freelancers but also the businesses looking to hire freelancers,” said Gavizon.
