Ehealth Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Government and General Employees’ Union (SGEU) Local 1579 have ratified a new collective agreement, which includes annual wage increases for workers over the next three years.

The agreement, which covers 650 employees, will see wage hikes of 3 per cent in each of the first two years, followed by a 1.67 per cent increase in the third year. It is retroactive to Oct. 1, 2022, and runs until Sept. 30, 2025.

Health Minister Everett Hindley praised the swift resolution of negotiations, which concluded after seven months of bargaining. “I am pleased with the level of commitment and efficiency demonstrated by both parties to reach an agreement after only seven months of bargaining, followed by a quick ratification process,” Hindley said in a statement.

The union represents workers who provide IT and support services to Saskatchewan’s health system, manage health card and Vital Statistics services, and perform other administrative duties.

The previous agreement expired on Sept. 30, 2022.
