Workhorse Health has announced the introduction of a new suite of mental health services aimed at supporting caregivers and their families in Ontario.

This initiative marks the first family-funded healthcare service in the province to offer personalized psychotherapy and tailored care solutions, according to Workhorse Health.

Founded in March 2020 by Megan Mantle, a Registered Social Worker, Workhorse Health provides direct one-to-one psychotherapy, bedside care, and individualized one-year care plans. These services are designed to equip families with the necessary resources to manage caregiving responsibilities while maintaining their mental health.

“There is a current caregiving crisis, and action must be taken to address this need. Caregivers put tremendous care in others, yet they are often overlooked,” said Mantle. “At Workhorse Health, we are committed to not only bridging this gap in the healthcare system but also enhancing the lives of caregivers, caregiving patients, and affected families.”

Mantle began offering psychotherapy sessions to help individuals cope with burnout and other mental health challenges following the COVID-19 pandemic. Through these efforts, she identified a broader need for mental health support for caregivers and their families.

The team at Workhorse Health consists of eight healthcare professionals, including registered social workers, registered psychotherapists, and registered nurses. To date, the organization has supported over 150 clients and their families and has established partnerships with 20 organizations that provide essential care for caregivers and their families.
