Dayforce Inc. has rebranded its payroll and HR solution for Canadian small and mid-sized businesses as Powerpay by Dayforce, marking a strategic shift to better serve more than 46,000 customers across the country.
The Toronto-based human capital management company announced the rebrand Tuesday, positioning the move as part of its commitment to address the complex compliance challenges facing Canadian business owners who deal with hundreds of legislative changes annually.
“Powerpay represents our commitment to Canadian small and mid-sized businesses. We see your challenges, we support your ambitions, and we’re building for your successes,” said David Ossip, chair and CEO at Dayforce.
Enhanced features target compliance complexity
The rebrand comes with updated features designed to simplify payroll management for businesses that form the backbone of Canada’s economy. Small and mid-sized businesses represent nearly the entire Canadian business landscape and contribute billions to the country’s GDP each year.
Recent platform updates include a New Hire Wizard and bulk self-service enrollment tools aimed at streamlining onboarding and daily administrative tasks. The enhanced time tracking and compensation features are designed to give managers better visibility into workforce data and support faster decision-making.
“Powerpay has transformed how we manage payroll,” said Krista Hanes, director of administration and corporate services at Apollo Property Management. “The platform is intuitive, scalable, and a great fit for a business like ours that runs multiple payrolls. It gives our HR and finance teams peace of mind, knowing payroll is always accurate and on time.”
New leadership appointment
As part of the strategic focus on growth, Dayforce has appointed Behrad Bayanpour as general manager of Powerpay. In his role as senior vice-president of strategy and growth at Dayforce, Bayanpour oversees sales, product, engineering and services.
“As we build on Powerpay’s momentum, our commitment to empowering Canada’s small and mid-sized businesses has never been stronger,” said Bayanpour. “We’re not just providing a platform — we’re forging partnerships that fuel growth, drive innovation, and help SMBs navigate an evolving landscape with confidence and optimism.”
Market positioning
The rebrand reflects Dayforce’s recognition that Canadian business owners need reliable tools to manage payroll compliance while focusing on growth. The company has established a dedicated website at powerpay.ca to support the rebranded solution.
Dayforce, which trades on both the New York Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol DAY, positions itself as a global leader in human capital management technology. The company’s platform combines HR, payroll, time tracking, talent management and analytics tools for organizations of various sizes and industries.
