DP World has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2026, marking the company’s first appearance on the national list. The recognition highlights workplace practices the organization says support innovation, well-being, and community involvement across its Canadian operations.

The annual list, managed by Mediacorp Canada Inc., evaluates organizations on workplace culture, benefits, time off, communication, performance management, training, and community engagement.

Focus on employee support

Kristina Leung, managing editor of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, said this year’s winners share a commitment to strong employee support.

“What distinguishes this year’s winners is their steadfast commitment to employees,” Leung said. “Leading employers are carefully listening to their workforce and ensuring strong support remains in place. Over the past year, we’ve seen a greater emphasis on financial security to help employees feel more confident, even amid economic uncertainty. But importantly, there has been no broad pullback in benefits or working conditions among the best employers.”

Doug Smith, CEO of DP World in Canada, said the company’s inclusion on the list reflects its focus on culture.

“Being recognized among Canada’s Top 100 Employers is an incredible milestone for our team,” Smith said. “It reflects our commitment to cultivating a culture where innovation, inclusion, and personal growth thrive. Our people are the foundation of our success.”

Employee programs and initiatives

DP World said the recognition builds on its seven consecutive years as one of BC’s Top Employers and its recent Great Place to Work certification.

The company highlighted several programs it says contribute to workplace culture:

Health and wellness benefits: Mental health resources and wellness spending accounts.

Leadership and learning: Programs such as WomenLead, MentorHer, and Finance for Non-Finance Managers.

Community involvement: Two paid volunteer days per year and donation-matching programs that support community and sustainability projects.

Operations and workforce

DP World directly employs nearly 500 people in Canada and works with thousands more through union and supply chain partners. Its terminals operate in Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Nanaimo, Fraser Surrey, and Saint John.

The company recently opened a freight forwarding office in Toronto and is developing a new container terminal in Montreal, which it says will expand trade capacity and support economic growth.

Smith said the company’s employees “are the heart of our operations,” noting their work is central to DP World’s role in supporting trade infrastructure.

Now in its 26th year, Canada’s Top 100 Employers recognizes organizations with programs and policies that support workplace quality. Mediacorp evaluates employers on eight criteria, including benefits, training, communication, and community involvement.
