IKEA Canada has been recognized on the Forbes list of Canada’s Best Employers 2026, an award presented by Forbes and Statista Inc.

The furniture retailer maintains a 19.5 per cent total turnover rate, according to the company, which it describes as significantly better than the industry average.

“For nearly 50 years, IKEA Canada has been committed to creating an inclusive and supportive workplace as well as investing in the development of our co-workers so that every individual feels empowered to contribute to the growth of the business,” said Tanja Fratangeli, head of people and culture at IKEA Canada.

Wellness and mental health initiatives

In 2025, IKEA Canada launched several wellness programs including a co-worker resource group called Guiding Real Opportunities of Wellness to engage employees in workplace wellness planning.

The company established a Psychological Safety Committee to help leaders and co-workers handle difficult customer interactions through de-escalation training and courtesy signage.

IKEA Canada also introduced menopause guidelines and partnered with the Menopause Foundation of Canada to support women at different life stages.

Employee feedback and engagement

The company conducted its annual I Share co-worker survey in 2025, with 93 per cent of employees participating, according to IKEA Canada. The survey collects feedback on workplace satisfaction and areas for improvement.

Through the comprehensive, consistent focus on co-workers, IKEA Canada maintains a 19.5% total turnover rate, significantly better than the industry average and testament to the long-term relationship and care IKEA holds with its greatest asset – its people. Diversity and inclusion strategy

IKEA Canada’s equality, diversity and inclusion strategy focuses on gender balance, 2SLGBTQ+ inclusion, multicultural diversity, disability inclusion, refugee integration and Indigenous reconciliation.

The retailer provides training and professional development opportunities, dedicating one week annually to sessions on leadership, coaching, allyship, well-being and career growth.

About the Forbes ranking

Forbes and Statista selected Canada’s Best Employers 2026 through an independent survey of more than 37,000 Canada-based employees working for companies with at least 500 employees. The survey considered over 900,000 employer evaluations, with higher weighting given to personal evaluations from employees themselves compared to public evaluations from friends, family members or industry peers.

IKEA Canada operates 15 stores and 11 plan and order points across the country. The retailer welcomed 33.3 million store visitors and 199.9 million website visitors last year, according to the company.
