About 460 potash miners at Nutrien’s Lanigan, Sask., facility have ratified a new three-year collective agreement that includes wage increases and enhanced health benefits
The agreement, reached between Unifor Local 922 and the company, delivers a 12 per cent wage increase over the life of the contract. It also includes improvements to paramedical, dental, hearing aid and vision benefits, along with higher hourly premiums and expanded provisions for banking overtime.
The deal was approved by members on March 24 and is retroactive to Feb. 1, 2024. It will remain in effect until Jan. 31, 2027.
“This contract makes real gains for our members,” said Gavin McGarrigle, Unifor’s Western Regional Director. “It is important to recognize their worth with a strong collective agreement and generous extended benefits.”
Lana Payne, Unifor’s national president, said the agreement reflects the value of the potash miners’ work in supporting a key strategic resource for the country.
Unifor represents 320,000 workers across Canada in a range of private sector industries.
