The Government of Saskatchewan has declared March 16-22, 2025, as Agricultural Safety Week, emphasizing farm worker protection and the importance of safety protocols for employers across the province.
Agricultural Safety Week, a national initiative led by the Canadian Agricultural Safety Association (CASA) alongside the Canadian Centre for Rural and Agricultural Health (CCRAH), highlights critical safety topics such as emergency preparedness, grain safety, mental health, and inclusivity in agriculture.
“Farm safety goes beyond everyday routines,” Agriculture Minister Daryl Harrison said. “It is also about being ready for the unexpected. This week is a great opportunity for producers to review their emergency plans and make sure their workers and families know how to respond to a crisis.”
CASA’s executive director, Sandy Miller, welcomed the province’s support.
“This commitment helps raise awareness, reduce risks and ensure safer farms, ranches, and agricultural communities,” Miller said.
The province continues to invest in farm safety initiatives, providing training programs and resources like the Farm Safety Guide to assist producers in preventing workplace injuries.
Residents are encouraged to wear an AgSafe ribbon to support farm safety awareness, available through ministry offices or digitally from CASA’s website.
