Saskatchewan’s teachers and the provincial government say they’ve reached a tentative agreement on a new contract after months of sparring.
Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation president Samantha Becotte says executive leadership is recommending members accept the offer.
Becotte says the government has moved on addressing classroom sizes, additional student supports and salaries.
She declined to provide further details, saying she wants teachers to look at the offer first.
Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill says the offer addresses student needs, and he hopes teachers accept it.
The province and teachers’ union have been at an impasse for months, with educators holding rotating strikes and pulling their volunteer work, before negotiations restarted this week.
