HR News Canada and employee discount provider Venngo have launched a nationwide survey to investigate how Canadian employers are adapting their benefits programs during economic uncertainty.

PerkShift aims to gather data from HR professionals and business leaders about changing priorities in employee perks and benefits programs.

“With inflation pressures, remote work considerations, and shifting employee expectations, organizations are rethinking their approach to benefits packages,” said Todd Humber, publisher and editor-in-chief of HR News Canada. “This survey will provide critical insights into these evolving strategies.”

Economic pressures reshaping benefits

The survey examines how economic conditions are influencing decisions about employee perks, including whether organizations are expanding or contracting their offerings.

Participants will share information about benefit program changes made over the past year and anticipated adjustments for the year ahead.

“We’re seeing significant shifts in what employees value most from their benefits packages,” said Humber. “Organizations that understand these trends can make more strategic decisions about their benefits investments.”

Benchmarking opportunity

The research presents an opportunity for HR professionals to benchmark their programs against industry trends.

All survey participants will receive a copy of the final report, providing comparative data across industries and company sizes. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete.

Focus on practical solutions

Beyond identifying challenges, the research aims to uncover practical approaches to benefits administration.

The survey explores how organizations measure the return on investment from their benefits programs and identifies which perks deliver the greatest impact on employee satisfaction and retention.

“We want to go beyond simply documenting the challenges employers face,” said Humber. “The goal is to identify concrete strategies that deliver value to both organizations and employees during challenging economic times.
