WCB Nova Scotia has introduced a new Psychological Health and Safety Resource Centre, offering a comprehensive suite of resources aimed at preventing and managing gradual onset psychological injuries in the workplace.
The materials, adapted from WorkSafe Saskatchewan, are positioned at the forefront of psychological injury prevention in Canada, it said.
The new resource centre offers extensive support for Nova Scotians in building and maintaining psychologically safe and healthy workplaces. The resources cover several key areas, including workplace psychological health and safety, psychologically safe leadership, and a variety of tools and resources.
Workplace psychological health and safety
One of the primary components of the resource centre is an in-depth examination of the National Standard for Psychological Safety at Work. This section explores the 13 psycho-social factors that contribute to positive mental health, providing valuable guidelines for creating supportive workplace environments.
Psychologically safe leadership
The resource centre also features insights into psychologically safe leadership. It outlines the five domains that comprise effective leadership in this area, offering action plans and strategies for leaders to foster a mentally healthy workplace culture.
Tools and resources
Additionally, the resource centre includes practical tools and resources designed to support ongoing mental health initiatives. This includes new assessment tools and discounted educational resources, providing practical solutions for organizations committed to enhancing workplace mental health.
WCB Nova Scotia’s initiative reflects a growing recognition of the importance of mental health in the workplace and offers valuable support to employers and leaders seeking to improve psychological safety for their teams.
