Stellantis has hired more than 1,000 workers at its Windsor Assembly Plant as part of plans to add a third shift in early 2026, the automaker announced Dec. 15.

The hiring milestone represents progress toward creating 1,500 jobs for the new shift, which will support production of new vehicle models including the SIXPACK-powered Dodge Charger Scat Pack and the Chrysler minivan family.

New employees are participating in orientation training to prepare for the third shift launch in Windsor, Ont., according to the company.

Transfer options for Brampton workers

Nearly 240 employees from Stellantis’ Brampton Assembly Plant have accepted transfers to Windsor following an operational pause at the Brampton facility. The two plants are located about 350 kilometres away from each other.

Hourly workers at Brampton who are affected by the pause but have not transferred continue to receive 70 percent of their salary plus health benefits, according to Stellantis.

The company said it is working with government partners and labour organizations to support impacted employees and create long-term employment opportunities.

Broader Canadian expansion

The Windsor hiring builds on Stellantis’ recent workforce growth in Canada. Since 2023, the company has added 600 engineering jobs at its Automotive Research and Development Centre and 1,100 jobs at NextStar Energy.

Stellantis currently employs approximately 10,000 people across its Canadian manufacturing plants, research and development operations, and business and distribution facilities.

Since 2022, the company has invested $7.9 billion in Canadian projects that are either complete or near completion, according to Stellantis.

Production expansion details

Windsor Assembly Plant began production of the two-door 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack earlier this month. The facility is also producing two-door and four-door versions of the all-electric 2026 Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack.

Production of additional SIXPACK-powered Charger models will begin in the first quarter of 2026, according to the company.

The Windsor plant has produced minivans for 42 years, starting in 1983. It currently assembles the Chrysler Pacifica, Chrysler Voyager and Grand Caravan.

“For more than a century, we’ve proudly assembled vehicles here — more than 25 million to date,” said Trevor Longley, president and CEO of Stellantis Canada. “With major investments and a growing workforce, we remain confident in Canada’s talent, innovation and manufacturing strength.”
