Workday Inc. has named DailyPay as its strategic partner for on-demand pay services in the United States and Canada, allowing employees to access their earned wages instantly rather than waiting for traditional payday cycles.

The partnership builds on an existing integration between DailyPay’s platform and Workday’s Human Capital Management and Payroll systems that has been in place since 2023, according to the companies.

Financial stress drives workforce turnover

More than half of U.S. workers report living paycheck-to-paycheck, and businesses lose about $1 trillion per year in turnover costs, according to the companies. The on-demand pay solution targets frontline and hourly workers who may face unexpected expenses between pay periods.

“The employee experience goes far beyond perks and benefits — it’s about supporting employees’ total well-being — and their financial health is a critical part of that,” said Matthew Brandt, senior vice president of global partners at Workday.

How the system works

DailyPay’s platform allows employees to access wages they have already earned before their scheduled payday. The service integrates directly with Workday’s payroll systems to track earned wages and provide real-time access.

“Our business goes beyond the workplaces we touch — we are reshaping how an entire generation of employers and employees interact,” said Stacy Greiner, CEO of DailyPay.

Market reach and adoption

Workday serves more than 11,000 organizations worldwide, including more than 60 per cent of Fortune 500 companies, according to the company. The expanded partnership will give DailyPay access to reach tens of millions of workers through Workday’s client base.

The companies position the service as both an employee retention tool and a recruitment advantage for employers competing for workers in tight labor markets.

The enhanced partnership experience is available now to joint customers of both Workday and DailyPay. Companies interested in adding on-demand pay must work with both providers to implement the integrated solution.
