Members of Unifor Local 27 have ratified a new collective agreement with HCL Logistics, concluding an 18-day strike with a deal that includes wage increases and better working conditions, according to the union.

The contract, approved on August 9, 2024, delivers a more than 17% wage hike over the next three years, with the agreement set to expire in July 2027. The contract also includes enhancements to health and safety protocols and an increased boot allowance for the workers.

Lana Payne, Unifor’s National President, emphasized the significance of the agreement in the context of rising living costs in Ontario. “Local 27’s fight for fairness has resulted in a contract that ensures wages and working conditions keep up with Ontario’s rising costs of living,” Payne said.

The 147 workers, who provide warehousing and logistics support at HCL Logistics, initiated strike action on July 22 after negotiations stalled. The resolution of the strike marks a return to work under conditions that aim to better reflect the economic realities faced by the employees.
