Apprentices (percent of journeyperson rate, plus full benefits)

  • 1st period (0–1,800 hrs): 50%
  • 2nd period (1,801–3,600 hrs): 60%
  • 3rd period (3,601–5,400 hrs): 70%
  • 4th period (5,401–7,200 hrs): 80%

Benefits

  • Health & Welfare: $3.17/hour
  • Pension: Contributions start at $3.74/hour (2025) and increase over term
  • Training Fund: $0.50/hour
  • Vacation/Statutory Pay: 10% of gross earnings (4% vacation + 6% statutory) paid weekly
  • Tool/Clothing Loss Protection: Up to $1,100 for tools and $330 for clothing lost due to mishap or fire

Hours, Overtime & Scheduling

  • Standard week: 45 hours (9 hours/day, Monday–Friday, between 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.)
  • Overtime: 1.5x after 9 hours/day or 45 hours/week; 1.5x on Sundays and statutory holidays
  • Shift work: Day and afternoon shifts, both 45 hours/week, with unpaid 30-minute lunch
  • Reporting pay: 1 hour (inclement weather), 2 hours minimum if reporting and no work available
