Classic Fire + Life Safety has appointed Lucy Machado as vice-president of human resources, the company announced Sept. 9.
Machado brings more than 25 years of HR leadership experience in pharmaceuticals and consulting, according to the company. She will manage talent acquisition, employee engagement, organizational development, total rewards and HR operations.
Mandate and priorities
As a member of the executive leadership team, Machado will work to strengthen company culture and support long-term growth, the company said.
“People are the lifeline of any organization,” said Mike Farren, CEO of Classic Fire + Life Safety. “Lucy understands our goal of building a company culture that puts people first by living our values and prioritizing open, transparent communication.”
The company operates 12 branches across Ontario, Manitoba, British Columbia and Alberta and employs more than 750 staff, according to the announcement. Classic Fire + Life Safety plans to expand further in 2026.
Growth through acquisition
The fire protection and life safety services provider has grown through acquisitions over the past three years, creating a network of companies united by its mission and values, the company said.
“It’s great to join a company that values its employees and wants to engrain those values into its culture,” Machado said. “This has been clear to me since my first meeting. I’m looking forward to strengthening our competitive edge, improving communication and building strong, proud teams that see the value of their work.”
Machado said she will take a people-first, hands-on approach to her role.
“I believe in being present at the table, sharing fresh ideas and fostering dialogue,” she said. “Communication is one of the most important tools we have.”
Machado started in the role July 29.
