Cority has acquired Meddbase, a UK-based provider of cloud-native clinical and occupational health software, as part of its strategy to broaden its offerings in the healthcare sector. The acquisition, announced on Jan. 23, will see Meddbase’s solutions integrated into Cority’s Health Cloud platform, creating what the company described as a comprehensive suite for occupational health and industrial hygiene.
Ryan Magee, Cority’s CEO, said the move supports the company’s mission to help organizations prioritize employee health while enhancing operational performance. “Together, we will set a new standard of excellence in occupational medicine and workforce well-being,” Magee said in a statement.
Meddbase, founded in 2004, was among the first to develop cloud-based clinical software for healthcare providers. Its platform includes tools for managing scheduling, billing, and clinical administration, and it is used by clients in the UK, North America, Europe, and Australia. Will Temple, managing director and co-founder of Meddbase, said the company is excited to join Cority, highlighting the shared focus on improving patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
The acquisition comes as demand for occupational health solutions continues to grow. According to the American Hospital Association, nearly half of U.S. hospitals experienced financial losses between 2019 and 2022, leading healthcare providers to seek new revenue streams. Occupational health services, which help employers reduce workplace injuries and illnesses, are a key area of focus.
The integration of Meddbase’s software with Cority’s existing technologies is expected to enhance flexibility and efficiency for healthcare providers while streamlining communication between providers, patients, and employers. A product roadmap outlining the combined solutions will be developed within the next 90 days.
Cority, based in Toronto, provides environmental, health, safety, and sustainability software and serves over 1,500 organizations worldwide. Meddbase will strengthen Cority’s presence in markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Australia.
