EarthCam has introduced the Mobile StreamCam IoT with Air Health, a camera system that combines advanced air quality monitoring with high-resolution live video streaming to enhance worker safety on construction sites.

The new system delivers ten real-time metrics on environmental conditions and pollutants within interior construction sites, providing early warnings if air quality falls below safe thresholds, according to EarthCam. By integrating high-quality images with a RESET Air Index certified sensor, it reports on harmful particulates and gases to help reduce the risk of headaches, respiratory illnesses and other symptoms related to poor air quality.

Automated alerts prompt users to take corrective action for potentially hazardous dust or chemicals, while the live camera feed allows verification that personal protective equipment is appropriate for the conditions. The system also advises on temperature, humidity and dew point to ensure material application specifications are followed.

“EarthCam has over two decades of experience delivering technology that benefits the construction industry, especially around worker safety,” said Brian Cury, founder and CEO of EarthCam. “Air Health provides peace of mind for all stakeholders that their environment is protected, and that occupants of the finished space—including children and the elderly—are not at risk from pollutants.”

Poor indoor air quality can impact the health and comfort of workers, occupants and visitors, the company noted. During interior construction, building materials can have long-term health impacts for future occupants due to off-gassing of carcinogens like formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The Air Health system allows users to verify that low-VOC materials are implemented as specified, facilitating Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification air quality monitoring and reporting for regulatory compliance.

Key features of the Mobile StreamCam IoT include portable 4/5G live-streaming with continuous video recording and 4K time-lapse, a weight of less than ten pounds for easy setup and relocation, and the ability to connect up to eight Internet of Things devices including flood or glass-breakage sensors. It also includes a heavy-duty tripod and advanced battery backup, and integrates with platforms like Procore, Autodesk Build and Projectmates.

EarthCam provides camera rentals, professional installation and artificial intelligence analytics to make construction project management more efficient with visual data. Mobile apps offer convenient access to all visual information from the field.

Founded in 1996, EarthCam offers live streaming video, time-lapse construction cameras, 3D/4D BIM model integrations and security solutions for corporate and government clients.
