Firstsource Solutions has launched a new platform that connects businesses with freelance workers worldwide, as companies continue to adapt their workforce strategies in an increasingly digital economy.
The Mumbai-based company announced its Gigsourcing Platform on Thursday, positioning it as part of a broader shift toward flexible work arrangements that gained momentum during the pandemic and shows no signs of slowing.
The platform aims to address common challenges businesses face when working with gig economy talent, including finding qualified workers, managing projects across different time zones, and handling payments and compliance issues.
AI-powered matching system
The new system uses artificial intelligence to match businesses with suitable freelancers based on project requirements and worker skills. It also handles administrative tasks like onboarding, performance tracking, and payment processing.
“The Firstsource Gigsourcing Platform marks a pivotal milestone in our UnBPO journey, reimagining how enterprises operate and scale,” said Ritesh Idnani, managing director and CEO at Firstsource. “As work becomes more decentralized and digital, our ability to blend AI-powered virtual agents, domain expertise, and a global freelance talent pool, empowers clients to move faster and smarter.”
The platform includes features designed to meet regulatory requirements in different regions and allows companies to conduct qualification tests before hiring freelancers. It also offers single sign-on integration with existing business systems.
Private workforce options
Beyond connecting companies with external freelancers, the platform allows organizations to create private talent pools, essentially building their own internal gig economy. This approach lets companies maintain closer control over quality and security while still accessing flexible workforce arrangements.
The system also supports what the company calls “insourcing flexibility,” which helps organizations better allocate internal resources across different projects and departments.
Growing gig economy market
The launch comes as more companies explore alternatives to traditional full-time employment. Recent surveys suggest that both employers and workers increasingly view gig arrangements as a permanent feature of the modern workplace rather than a temporary pandemic response.
Hasit Trivedi, chief digital and AI officer at Firstsource, said the platform represents a shift in how work gets organized. “The Firstsource Gigsourcing Platform represents the convergence of AI, digital platforms, and workforce innovation,” he said. “We see gig sourcing becoming a critical pillar of enterprise transformation – redefining workforce agility in the AI era and building the future of work.”
Part of broader AI strategy
The Gigsourcing Platform follows Firstsource’s recent introduction of what it calls Agentic AI Studio, another tool designed to change how companies handle work processes. Together, these platforms form what the company describes as a comprehensive approach to workplace transformation.
Firstsource operates across multiple countries including the United States, United Kingdom, India, Philippines, Mexico, Romania, Turkey, Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa, and Australia. The company serves clients in healthcare, banking, financial services, communications, media, technology, and retail sectors.
The platform is now available as a software-as-a-service offering, allowing companies to implement it without significant infrastructure investments.
