GreenShield has been named one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures for the seventh year in a row by Waterstone Human Capital.
The Windsor, Ont.-based non-profit health care and insurance organization was recognized in the Enterprise category for large organizations. The annual awards program evaluates companies on vision and leadership, recruitment and hiring practices, cultural alignment, corporate social responsibility, retention, rewards and recognition, and organizational performance.
“This recognition reflects the incredible team at GreenShield who bring our purpose to life every day,” said Zahid Salman, president and CEO. “Their purpose, passion, and performance is all in service of our mission: Better Health for All.”
Employee benefits and engagement
The company provides $10,000 in annual mental health coverage per dependent, family-building support and paid volunteer days.
GreenShield achieved its goal of positively impacting the health and well-being of at least one million Canadians between 2020 and 2025, according to the company.
Growth and performance
Since 2018, GreenShield has more than doubled its employee and plan participant base, according to the company. The organization also more than doubled gross revenues and increased social impact investments fivefold during that period.
The organization was named to Fortune’s Change the World List for the second year in a row this fall and earned three Best in Biz Awards.
About the awards program
Marty Parker, president and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital, said the 2025 award recipients demonstrate how culture drives performance during economic uncertainty and recruitment challenges.
GreenShield operates as a non-profit social enterprise and reinvests excess earnings to support underserved communities through its GreenShield Cares program. The organization has set a goal to impact an additional three million Canadians by 2030 across mental health, essential medicines and chronic disease management.
