Highway enforcement officers across Newfoundland and Labrador will participate in the International Roadcheck Initiative from May 14 to 16, joining law enforcement agencies from Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This annual event, organized by the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), aims to enhance regulatory compliance through a series of inspections and enforcement activities targeting commercial motor vehicles.

During the three-day initiative, CVSA-certified inspectors will focus on tractor protection systems and the use of alcohol and controlled substances. The International Roadcheck is renowned as the largest targeted enforcement program for commercial motor vehicles globally, with an average of nearly 15 trucks and motorcoaches inspected every minute across North America.

Since its launch in 1988, International Roadcheck has conducted over 1.8 million roadside inspections. This initiative serves as an educational platform for the industry and the public, emphasizing the significance of safe commercial motor vehicle operations and the roadside inspection program.
