LinkedIn will require workplace verification for members who add or update recruiter and executive job titles as part of expanded verification measures announced last week.

“We’re expanding company verification and making workplace verification required when a member adds or updates a leadership or recruiter related role,” said Oscar Rodriguez, vice-president of product at LinkedIn, in a post announcing the changes.

The new requirements affect members with recruiter-related titles such as “Recruiter” or “Talent Acquisition Specialist” and high-level positions including Executive Director, Managing Director and Vice President.

Company verification expansion

LinkedIn also expanded access to company page verification for all businesses with Premium Company Page subscriptions. “Until now, Company Page verification was available only to a limited number of organizations and by request. That changes today,” Rodriguez said.

The change unlocks verification access for more businesses, according to Rodriguez. “Our recent research found that 85% of business buyers say that trust is critical,” he said. “Having a verified company Page signals to buyers, prospects, and job seekers that your business is real, credible, and trustworthy.”

Recruiter and executive protection

The recruiter verification requirement “helps job-seekers identify legitimate recruiters and avoid scams, while enabling recruiters to build trust in potential candidates from the first interaction,” Rodriguez said.

For executive titles, Rodriguez said the workplace verification requirements are “designed to guard against executive impersonation, and to ensure that those in senior roles are able to reflect their company authentically to build and maintain trust and credibility.”

Future verification vision

Rodriguez said LinkedIn continues working on new ways to expand access and “reach our goal for every member, company and job on LinkedIn to have supporting verifications in the future.”

The executive positioned trust as fundamental to LinkedIn’s mission. “At LinkedIn, trust is the foundation of everything we do,” Rodriguez said. “It’s what allows professionals to connect, companies to grow, and knowledge to be shared with confidence.”
