The federal government is providing $910,000 to the True Patriot Love Foundation to help veterans transition into civilian careers by establishing a national network of veteran-ready employers.
The funding, announced Sunday by Veterans Affairs Minister Darren Fisher at the Veteran Employment Symposium in Vancouver, is part of a broader $15-million investment in the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund over the next three years. The fund supports programs aimed at helping former military personnel and their families adjust to life after service.
“Every year, more than 8,000 service members leave the military, ready to bring their leadership, discipline, and resilience to new careers,” Fisher said. “Employers are always looking for skilled, dedicated people, and veterans are exactly that. That’s why our government is making this investment.”
The grant will allow True Patriot Love to pilot initiatives focused on recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention of veterans in workplaces across Canada.
Nick Booth, CEO of True Patriot Love, said veterans bring valuable skills to the workforce but can struggle to find the right role after leaving the military. “We are thrilled to have this support from Veterans Affairs Canada through the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund, which will allow us to strengthen hiring and transition support with employers across Canada,” Booth said.
Since its launch in 2018, the Veteran and Family Well-Being Fund has provided more than $42 million to support veteran-focused programs. The funding for True Patriot Love is one of several upcoming investments, with more recipients expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
