Scotiabank has been named one of the Best Workplaces in Financial Services and Insurance in Canada by Great Place to Work for the seventh consecutive year. The recognition reflects the bank’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive work environment.

The Best Workplaces list, compiled by Great Place to Work, evaluates companies based on employee feedback on key workplace attributes such as credibility, trust, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.

Jenny Poulos, Chief Human Resources Officer at Scotiabank, emphasized the importance of their workplace culture.

“At Scotiabank, we are committed to creating an environment where everyone thrives in a strong culture rooted in diversity, inclusion, and trust,” Poulos said. “This recognition signifies our Bank as a leader in our industry, where employees feel proud to work and are empowered to reach their fullest potential.”

Scotiabank employs a continuous feedback loop to ensure that employee input shapes its workplace initiatives. These initiatives include the introduction of Global Inclusive Standards of Care for employee benefits, aimed at closing healthcare gaps for women and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Additionally, the bank offers a global standard for parental leave, recently enhanced in Canada to provide fully paid leave for eligible parents.

The bank has also increased its fertility treatment coverage to a lifetime maximum of $20,000 and provides $10,000 each for adoption and surrogacy coverage. Furthering its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), Scotiabank appointed its first Vice President of Global Inclusion and launched an Indigenous Inclusion Team to support Indigenous employees and promote cultural awareness.

Great Place to Work, a global authority on workplace culture, recognized Scotiabank based on the voices of employees across the industry. The recognition is part of the world’s largest annual workplace study, which includes national lists published by The Globe and Mail and Fortune magazine.
