President-elect Donald Trump has signaled a significant shift in federal workforce policy, vowing to end long-term remote work arrangements for government employees. In remarks today at Mar-a-lago, Trump criticized a recent decision by the Biden administration that allows thousands of federal employees to work remotely for five years, calling it “a gift to a union” and promising legal action to overturn it.
“If people don’t come back to work, come back into the office, they’re going to be dismissed,” Trump said. He referred to a Biden administration waiver that he claims affects 49,000 federal employees, permitting them to work remotely for an extended period. “They just signed this thing. It’s ridiculous,” Trump said.
“We’re going to obviously be in court to stop it,” he said.
