UKG has named Prakash Kota as its new chief information officer, the company announced April 3, tasking him with leading enterprise technology strategy and advancing artificial intelligence design to support global workforce management.

Kota, who reports to UKG president and CFO Arlen Shenkman, will be responsible for aligning the company’s technology priorities with its broader business strategy. His mandate includes optimizing go-to-market capabilities, improving internal systems and processes, and enhancing AI-driven tools designed to help employers manage their workforces.

“Prakash is a global technology visionary who is recognized by his peers as a leader and innovator,” said Shenkman. “He has an impressive history in leading complex initiatives focused on optimizing go-to-market strategies, processes, and systems.”

UKG, which provides HR, payroll, and workforce management solutions, said Kota’s expertise in enterprise AI will support its efforts to deliver tools that help organizations solve workforce challenges and make critical decisions based on data insights.

Prior to joining UKG, Kota served as senior vice president and CIO at Autodesk, a global software company. There, he led a broad enterprise strategy, overseeing cloud engineering, infrastructure, enterprise data platforms, and digital transformation projects. He also directed global customer operations and initiatives aimed at scaling technology experiences for employees and clients.

“I am excited to join UKG at such a pivotal time in its growth journey,” said Kota. “Leveraging a data- and AI-first framework, we have a tremendous opportunity to create intelligent, seamless experiences for our employees and our 80,000 customers worldwide.”

Based in San Francisco, Kota has been recognized with several industry honors, including the Bay Area CIO Global Orbie award, Forbes’ CIO Next list of innovative technology leaders, and the National Diversity Council’s Top 100 CIO award.
