UKG appointed Jim Joudrey as chief technology officer to lead the company’s global engineering and cloud organization of more than 4,000 people, the HR technology company announced Tuesday.

Joudrey will serve on UKG’s executive leadership team and report to CEO Jennifer Morgan, according to the company. He replaces Sri Srinivasan, who served as interim CTO since 2023.

Amazon and Salesforce background

Joudrey brings more than two decades of experience leading large-scale engineering and technology teams at major software companies, UKG said. Most recently, he worked as vice-president of digital acceleration at Amazon, where he led digital ecommerce across more than 40 businesses including Prime, Prime Video, Audible, Music, Devices and Games.

Before Amazon, Joudrey worked as senior vice-president of analytics cloud engineering at Salesforce following its Tableau acquisition, according to the company. He helped lead Tableau’s cloud migration initiative in that role.

Joudrey previously spent a decade at Amazon in various positions spanning core financial systems, marketplace services, and supply chain operations, UKG said. His final Amazon role involved technology leadership in Amazon Web Services infrastructure, where he handled engineering teams responsible for labour management, data centre automation, security, hardware vetting, and monitoring.

Technology focus and customer base

As CTO, Joudrey will shape and execute UKG’s technology vision, with a focus on advancing the company’s AI-first platform to help customers make decisions, according to UKG. More than 80,000 organizations across 150 countries use UKG solutions, including two-thirds of Fortune 1000 companies, the company said.

“Jim is a transformational technology leader with a track record of turning bold ideas into products that deliver results for customers,” Morgan said in the announcement. “He joins UKG at a perfect time as we begin the next chapter of our technology story.”

Joudrey said UKG’s platform and AI-first strategy positioned the company to reshape work for organizations worldwide. “What drew me to UKG is the opportunity to build category leading products that help organizations of all sizes empower their employees and optimize their operations,” he said.

UKG provides HR, payroll, and workforce management cloud solutions to organizations across various sizes, industries, and locations, according to the company. The Lowell, Massachusetts and Weston, Florida-based company describes itself as an AI-first provider serving more than 80,000 organizations globally.
