Workday has named former Salesforce executive Edward Charter as its new country leader for Canada — one of the enterprise software company’s largest global markets.
Charter brings more than 20 years of technology sales and business development experience to his new role, including 18 years in leadership positions at Salesforce where he focused on customer success and growth initiatives. He began his career at Dell, developing expertise in team building and management.
Based in Toronto, Charter will lead Workday’s continued expansion across Canada while strengthening relationships with customers and partners nationwide. As a member of the North America leadership team, he will oversee the company’s regional sales strategy to drive revenue growth and increase market share.
Major market investment
The appointment reflects Workday’s strategic focus on the Canadian market, which represents substantial business for the Pleasanton, California-based company.
“The Canadian market is of significant importance to Workday, representing one of our largest markets worldwide,” said Rob Enslin, president and chief commercial officer at Workday. “Ed’s appointment underscores our commitment to the region, and his expertise will be instrumental in driving the next phase of growth while supporting our substantial Canadian customer base.”
Workday has operated in Canada for more than two decades, building a workforce of over 1,000 employees and serving more than 450 customers across various sectors. The company provides bilingual services to meet the needs of Canadian organizations.
AI transformation focus
Charter highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in reshaping workplace operations as he takes on his new responsibilities.
“As AI continues to transform the world of work, it is an honour to be leading the next chapter of Workday’s growth journey in Canada,” said Charter. “I look forward to partnering with our talented employees to deliver meaningful innovation for our Canadian customers as they redefine the future of work.”
