The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will introduce a new classification for clerical labour provided by temporary employment agencies (TEAs) beginning Jan. 1, 2025. The adjustment aims to better reflect the lower risk profile associated with clerical work, according to the WSIB.
The upcoming classification will adjust rates specifically for TEAs that provide administrative, clerical, and knowledge-based workers, bringing them in line with the generally lower-risk nature of this work compared to other types of temporary placements.
The move also aligns with the WSIB’s existing policy of basing TEA premiums on the industry class of the businesses they serve, the agency said.
Temporary employment agencies that provide clerical labour and wish to adopt the new classification must submit a request by December 31, 2024, using a form available on the WSIB’s website at https://www.wsib.ca/en/temporary-employment-agency-classification-update-request-form
