Women represent 43 per cent of the total workforce at MEXC, a global cryptocurrency exchange, according to the company’s first public workforce report — a figure the company says is 15 percentage points above the global technology industry average of 28 per cent.

The report, released around International Women’s Day, covers representation, leadership, hiring, technical roles, and retention across the company’s operations in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East and North Africa, and Latin America regions.

Leadership and hiring

Women hold 40 per cent of management roles at MEXC, with 15 women in senior leadership positions. The company says the gap between overall representation and decision-making authority is narrow, though it did not provide a benchmark comparison for the leadership figures.

Female hiring has grown 49 per cent year-over-year over three years, across 411 employees globally. The company says that growth is consistent across markets and functions, not concentrated in any single region.

Retention and technical roles

MEXC reports an 85 per cent post-maternity return-to-work rate. The company notes this compares against industry research suggesting only 13 per cent of mothers consider a full-time return after maternity leave viable, though it did not identify the source of that figure.

Within the technical workforce, 195 women hold roles in engineering and product. The company attributes the broader shortage of women in these roles to limited access to STEM and blockchain education, and says it plans to address this through dedicated research and financial literacy programs.

What comes next

MEXC identified two priorities on its near-term agenda: formalizing wage equality confirmation and expanding the visibility of women at global industry events.

The company described the data published today as a baseline rather than a final measure, and committed to annual disclosure going forward. MEXC was founded in 2018 and serves more than 40 million users across more than 170 countries.
