Montreal-based Nolinor Aviation has increased wages for its aircraft maintenance technicians by 9% to 20%, the company announced Tuesday. The pay adjustment aims to attract and retain skilled workers in a competitive sector, as demand for aviation maintenance professionals continues to grow, it said.

Certified mechanics at Nolinor can now earn up to $56 per hour, according to the company. Nolinor President Marco Prud’Homme said the changes reflect the value of the maintenance team to the company’s operations.

“Our maintenance team is one of the key ingredients to our success,” said Prud’Homme. “By investing in their development and well-being, we strengthen our position in the market and become a top choice for many.”

The wage increase is part of a broader initiative to recruit and develop talent, including a $5,000 grant for apprentice mechanics to help finance their first toolbox. Nolinor is also launching the “Become ACA” program to support mechanics in obtaining their Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) certification.

Mechanics at Nolinor also have opportunities to participate in flight missions, earning additional bonuses. For those interested in advancing their careers, the company offers a “Become a Pilot” program that allows mechanics to explore other roles within the organization.

With two heavy maintenance lines in Mirabel and additional teams in Edmonton and Yellowknife, Nolinor said it continues to invest in its infrastructure and workforce. Approximately 20 positions are currently open across its locations.

Nolinor, which has been in operation since 1992, specializes in commercial charter flights across Canada, the United States, and international destinations. It remains privately owned by the Prud’homme family trust.

The company emphasized its commitment to creating a dynamic and rewarding workplace to meet the evolving needs of the aviation industry.
