Executive search firm Phelps has acquired the Canadian Executive Search Practice of Gallagher, a move that significantly expands its operations in Calgary, Edmonton and Montreal, and bolsters its presence across Western and Eastern Canada.

The acquisition, announced Friday, adds an experienced team with long-standing client relationships and regional expertise to the Phelps network. The team will continue to operate under local leadership while integrating into Phelps’ national search platform.

“This acquisition represents a meaningful step in our firm’s evolution,” said Heather Phelps, managing partner. “It enhances our regional insight and capacity, allowing us to serve clients more effectively across the country.”

Senior partner Jayson Phelps said the two teams share similar values and a client-first approach, making the transition a natural fit.

Move strengthens North American network ties

The deal coincides with broader growth across the Panorama global network, to which Phelps belongs. In the United States, Panorama’s partner firm Buffkin / Baker has also acquired Gallagher’s U.S. Executive Search Practice, further solidifying Panorama’s North American presence.

Panorama is an executive search and leadership advisory network with more than 400 professionals in over 70 offices worldwide. As its Canadian partner, Phelps contributes local expertise while benefiting from the network’s global reach.

Phelps to maintain values-based, high-touch model

Founded nearly 40 years ago, Toronto-based Phelps specializes in leadership recruitment for mission-driven organizations across Canada. The firm emphasizes a values-led, customized approach to executive search, combining human insight with data and technology.

The company said its strategy remains focused on building inclusive, future-ready leadership teams to meet the evolving needs of Canadian organizations.
