Calgary-based Wagepoint has launched a time-tracking feature and employee mobile app as part of its payroll platform for Canadian small businesses.

The Timesheets feature allows employees, contractors and administrators to submit time entries for approval within the Wagepoint platform. Once approved, hours flow directly into payroll processing.

The My Wagepoint mobile app gives employees access to payroll functions on their phones, including time entry management, paystub access and profile updates. The app is available on the App Store and Google Play.

“We are solving a massive pain point for small businesses and their employees as we are simplifying the payroll process for users on the move,” said Jenna Poste, vice-president of product at Wagepoint.

Automated overtime calculations

The Timesheets feature eliminates the need for separate time-tracking tools or manual hour collection. The system automatically calculates and applies overtime rates based on daily and weekly rules for each employee’s province or territory.

The built-in approach removes the need to transfer data between different systems before running payroll.

Mobile-first payroll approach

The My Wagepoint app represents the company’s move toward mobile-first payroll workflows. The app allows employees and contractors to handle payroll tasks without accessing a desktop computer.

Poste said the launches are the first of several product releases planned for 2026 as the company builds a unified platform for payroll, time tracking and employee management.

Company background

Wagepoint was founded in 2012 and provides payroll software designed for Canadian regulations and tax requirements. More than 30,000 small businesses and 1,800 accountants and bookkeepers use the platform.

The platform includes automated pay runs, automatic tax remittances to the Canada Revenue Agency, an employee self-service portal, and integrations with QuickBooks Online, Xero and FreshBooks.
