Specsavers has placed 12th on the World’s Best Workplaces list for the second consecutive year, moving up four spots from its 2024 ranking. The eyecare retailer is the top-ranked retail company on the list, it said.
The ranking is based on Great Place to Work’s employee survey process, which collected more than nine million responses representing 25 million employees worldwide. Companies are evaluated on their ability to outperform other organizations in their national markets and globally.
Top retailer recognition
“Being named one of the World’s Best Workplaces is an incredible achievement for Specsavers globally and here in Canada,” said Bill Moir, managing director of Specsavers Canada. “As we continue to expand into new communities, we’re committed to being more than a trusted eyecare provider, we want to be an employer people are proud to work for. This recognition is a reflection of our amazing team and their dedication to changing lives through better sight.”
To qualify for the World’s Best Workplaces list, companies must have at least 5,000 employees globally and be recognized on at least five Best Workplaces lists from around the world during 2024 or early 2025.
Multiple workplace awards
Earlier in 2025, Specsavers was named the leading retail employer on Canada’s Best Workplaces list. The company has been ranked as a Great Place to Work in every country where it operates, including eighth in Europe, 26th in the United Kingdom and first in Denmark.
Companies on the World’s Best Workplaces list are assessed on their efforts to create workplaces that positively impact people and communities across multiple countries. Organizations must demonstrate how they support employees with personalized services and meet their needs.
