ECO Canada will hold Alberta’s first in-person environmental hiring event on Nov. 27, bringing together employers and job seekers in Calgary’s emerging green economy.
The ECOWorks Career Fair will take place at Mount Royal University’s Ross Glen Hall, with more than 200 attendees expected. The event is designed to connect environmental employers with professionals, students and newcomers seeking work in sustainability-focused industries.
Government funding supports workforce development
The Government of Alberta is funding the initiative through its Workforce Partnerships Grant Program, under a project called C-NER-Gs: Cultivating and Nurturing Employer Readiness for Green Growth. The program aims to address labour market gaps in Alberta’s environmental sector.
The funding will support career fairs in Calgary and Edmonton, HR training for small and medium-sized enterprises, and the ECO IMPACT 2026 Workforce Learning Series. Admission is free for job seekers.
Sectors and services at the fair
Employers at the fair will represent energy sector companies, including cleantech and hydrogen businesses, as well as organizations in environmental goods and services, petroleum, renewables, nuclear energy, smart homes, energy efficiency and electric vehicles.
Job seekers will have access to resume reviews, career coaching and job search tools at an HR hub during the event.
“ECOWorks is where opportunity meets action — bringing together the organizations, talent, and energy needed to shape the next chapter of our environmental workforce,” said Kevin Nilsen, president and CEO of ECO Canada.
The Hon. Joseph Schow, minister of jobs, economy, trade and immigration, said the fair would help build Alberta’s environmental workforce. “Investing in people is essential to tackling climate challenges,” Schow said.
ECO Canada plans to hold a second ECOWorks Career Fair in Edmonton in 2026.
