About 1,900 professional employees in British Columbia’s public service have ratified a new collective agreement with the provincial government.

The Professional Employees Association (PEA) membership voted to approve the deal, which covers foresters, engineers, agrologists, geoscientists, psychologists, legal counsel and others working across the province.

The agreement is based on the 2025 Balanced Measures Mandate and includes additional funding to support service delivery and improve working conditions. Key changes include new rules around special compensation for overtime, shift work and standby, along with increased indemnity coverage so professionals can practise with greater reassurance.

About the agreement

The deal was negotiated between the BC Public Service Agency and the PEA. The 2025 Balanced Measures Mandate sets the framework for public-sector bargaining in the province this round.

According to the province, the mandate supports efforts to protect critical services, maintain labour stability and find operational efficiencies that preserve front-line services.

The province says just over 220,000 workers are now covered by tentative or ratified agreements reached in the 2025 round of bargaining.
