GreenShield has appointed Dave Jones as executive vice-president and head of payer solutions, putting him in charge of the non-profit’s insurance and administration businesses as it expands its integrated payer-provider model.
Jones will lead GreenShield Insurance, which covers group and individual benefits, and GreenShield Administration, which handles claims adjudication, benefits administration and third-party administration. He joins with more than two decades of executive leadership experience in health and group benefits, including a stint as president of Sun Life Health, one of Canada’s largest health and benefits businesses.

GreenShield is Canada’s only national non-profit health care and insurance organization. The Toronto-based company says it operates the country’s first integrated payer-provider model, combining insurance coverage with health care services such as mental health support, pharmacy, telemedicine and chronic disease management. The model now serves eight million Canadians, according to the company.
The appointment comes as GreenShield works to deepen that model and sharpen its focus on the needs of its customer segments, the company said. Built on nearly 70 years in health and dental benefits, GreenShield has grown through acquisitions, organic expansion and what it describes as purpose-driven innovation.
