Workers with Unifor Local 2458 at Clear Medical Imaging are set to resume negotiations on Friday, November 8, marking a critical juncture in the strike that has disrupted medical imaging services across Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent since October 25.
The return to the bargaining table follows a request from Unifor for a conciliator to assist both parties in reaching a deal. Unifor National President Lana Payne stated the union’s stance: “We are returning to the table determined to secure the fair deal our members deserve,” she said. “Our members at Clear Medical Imaging have waited long enough for the respect and recognition that they deserve.”
The strike involves 130 employees who serve as x-ray and ultrasound technologists, as well as clerical and administrative staff across 11 Clear Medical Imaging locations, including Windsor, Chatham, Tecumseh, LaSalle, and Essex. According to Unifor Local 2458 President Ken Durocher, unresolved issues include wage parity with local standards, sufficient benefits, job security, union representation, and mandatory overtime.
“Our members are encouraged that Clear Medical is returning to the bargaining table,” Durocher said. “But our members will not return to work until they obtain an agreement that reflects their commitment to the quality care they provide.”
Unifor, Canada’s largest private-sector union, represents over 320,000 workers in various industries across the country.
