Paylocity has launched an upgraded AI assistant that transforms employee questions into immediate actions within its human resources platform.

The Illinois-based HR technology provider says the new system eliminates multiple clicks and menu navigation by directing users straight to relevant data, workflows or answers on both desktop and mobile devices.

Real-world applications

The AI assistant handles common workplace tasks that typically require multiple steps, according to Paylocity. Employees can ask about vacation balances and receive current totals with direct links to submit time-off requests. Department managers can request headcount information and see real-time openings with hiring links specific to their authorization levels.

The system also addresses expense management by pulling policy details based on location-specific questions. A manager reviewing expenses can ask about spending limits for team events in specific cities and receive exact policy information without searching through handbooks.

Usage and performance data

Paylocity reports its AI assistant answered more than 1.2 million questions in the past year. The company says usage of AI-powered features has more than doubled annually for three consecutive years as clients use the technology for compliance, workforce insights and routine tasks like benefits enrollment.

Trust and accuracy features

The AI assistant connects each response to official sources, records, policies or data to ensure accuracy, according to the company. This approach addresses concerns about reliability in HR and payroll data management.

Industry feedback

“With Paylocity’s AI Assistant, I no longer waste time clicking through menus to find answers,” said Crystal Kelly, vice-president of human resources at Zippy’s Restaurants. “It’s like having a 24/7 expert by my side—instantly resolving questions so I can focus on strategy, not admin.”

Melissa King, senior vice-president of product and technology at Paylocity, said the upgrade moves beyond conversation to action integration within the platform.
