Talogy has introduced Spotlight, a new tool designed to assess the potential of early career candidates by focusing on key competencies instead of traditional job experience.
Spotlight was developed through research involving more than 1,200 managers, recent hires, and job seekers, according to Talogy. The solution aims to help organizations identify versatile, high-potential candidates while addressing the challenges employers face in building talent pipelines.
“Hiring managers need to think more strategically, looking at both the immediate role that needs to be fulfilled, as well as the impact their recruitment decisions make on the long-term success of the company,” said Ted Kinney, Talogy’s vice president of research and development.
The tool evaluates candidates based on 11 competencies identified as predictors of success in the workplace, Talogy said. Without relying on prior work experience, Spotlight combines situational judgement testing, personality assessments, and cognitive evaluations. Employers can also integrate additional tools such as values assessments, competency-based interviews, or assessment centres.
Spotlight’s design includes real-world scenarios and storylines to engage candidates and provide insight into the organization’s culture and brand values. After the assessment, both hiring managers and candidates receive feedback highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
Talogy noted that Spotlight offers statistical analysis across multiple applicants to identify broader trends in strengths and potential weaknesses, providing data that organizations can use to refine their talent strategies.
With an aging workforce and rising rates of early retirement, Talogy said the tool provides hiring managers with a way to address future talent shortages. “Attracting, identifying, and engaging the right talent is crucial for the ongoing success of an organization,” Kinney said.
