Paylocity has introduced a suite of artificial intelligence agents designed to automate tasks across payroll, hiring and time management for its human capital management platform. The Schaumburg, Ill.-based company unveiled Paylocity Ignite AI on July 21, along with a centralized dashboard that lets employers track adoption and measure results.
The new agents are built to handle work that typically slows down HR and payroll teams. The Answer & Insight Agent lets users ask questions about their workforce data in plain language and get real-time answers, rather than running reports or waiting for someone else to pull the numbers.
“It actually feels like I have another team member supporting me,” said Genevieve Gonnigan, vice-president of HR & People and Culture at Lincoln Park Zoo. “Manual processes are a time suck, and Ignite AI turns things that would be a 5- to 10-minute process into a 30-second question or resolves them on its own.”
The Payroll Analysis Agent flags anomalies based on an organization’s past payroll trends, explains what changed and why it matters, and directs reviewers to the areas that need the most attention before a payroll deadline. Paylocity said this is meant to cut down on errors that slip through manual reviews.
For recruiting, the Candidate Fit Agent surfaces applicants who match a role’s criteria and summarizes how they fit the requirements, while also flagging criteria that may raise compliance concerns. Paylocity said recruiters retain control over hiring decisions and can spend less time sorting through applications and more time engaging with candidates.
Other agents in the release include the Resume Summary Agent, which provides recruiters with candidate overviews, the Data Inspection Agent, which looks for gaps in employee records, and the Time Correction Agent, which surfaces time-tracking errors and compliance issues so supervisors can fix them before payroll runs. The company said these join existing tools for benefits enrollment, expense submission and accounts payable validation, with more agents planned for scheduling and candidate engagement.
Centralized oversight for AI adoption
Alongside the new agents, Paylocity introduced the Ignite AI Hub, a dashboard meant to give employers oversight over how the AI tools are used. Through the hub, leaders can measure productivity gains, monitor which teams are using the agents, control which ones are active, and identify further automation opportunities.
Paylocity said the tools were developed with input from an advisory group of HR and business leaders who helped identify use cases and guide the product’s development.
“The way Paylocity is weaving AI across the platform is better than anything I’ve seen in other systems,” said Ryan Zimmerman, vice-president of human resources at POLYWOOD. “I’m so excited by the momentum I’m seeing and to be part of shaping it.”
Toby Williams, president and CEO of Paylocity, said the release marks a new stage in how AI is used in workplace software.
“Ignite AI is the next evolution of AI at work: embedded across the Paylocity platform, built for every team, and informed by the real-world needs of clients who use it every day,” Williams said. “It brings intelligence and automated action directly into the flow of work, helping organizations move faster, make confident decisions, and unlock greater value from their teams. This is only the beginning of what we’re building.”
