New Brunswick’s minimum wage will increase to $15.65 per hour on April 1, a 35-cent increase from the current rate of $15.30.

The increase is tied to the province’s consumer price index, which rose by 2.2 per cent in 2024. The government rounds the wage adjustment to the nearest five cents.

Jean-Claude D’Amours, acting minister of post-secondary education, training and labour, said the change is part of broader efforts to help workers manage the rising cost of living.

“As the cost of living rises, it is important that we continue to raise wages, but the minimum wage is just one tool that we have to help New Brunswickers earn more,” D’Amours said.

The province reported that six per cent of all employees in New Brunswick earned minimum wage last year, down from 6.7 per cent in 2023. More than half of those workers—56 per cent—were employed part-time, and nearly one-third (32 per cent) were between the ages of 15 and 19.

D’Amours said the government is also supporting workers through post-secondary education initiatives, job training programs under WorkingNB, and apprenticeship opportunities through Skilled Trades NB.
