FutureFit AI, a Toronto-based workforce technology company, has received a strategic investment from Achieve Partners to expand its career navigation and job-matching platform across Canada, the United States, and Europe.
The funding will support the company’s efforts to build talent marketplaces in new regions, address skills shortages in growing industries, and connect more workers with employment opportunities through partnerships with governments and employers.
Hamoon Ekhtiari, chief executive officer of FutureFit AI, said the scale of workforce disruption driven by artificial intelligence (AI) is being underestimated.
“As a society, we’re continuing to underestimate what is needed to help people navigate transitions in the AI-driven economy. Meanwhile, our institutions don’t have the necessary infrastructure to support that transition. The same technology that is causing so much anxiety around job losses and layoffs also has tremendous potential to help unlock economic mobility for people and close critical talent gaps for industries of the future.”
Canadian reach
FutureFit AI’s platform connects individuals, education providers, and employers within a shared career exploration and skills-matching system. It uses regional labour market data to help people find new job opportunities and identify relevant training pathways.
In Canada, the company’s work has included:
- Ontario employment services: Supported more than 150,000 unemployed and laid-off workers
- National upskilling initiative: Powered a $250-million program that has placed more than 10,000 people into high-demand jobs
The company also operates in U.S. states and in Europe through government and industry partnerships.
Investor perspective
Ryan Craig, co-founder and managing director of Achieve Partners, said the existing workforce system has not kept pace with a changing labour market.
“For too long, the U.S. workforce system has relied on disparate and disconnected systems to try to bridge the gap between the skills workers bring to the table, and the jobs available in a fast-changing labour market. In the age of AI, the need for a better approach has only become more urgent.”
Craig described FutureFit AI as addressing that gap by helping workforce organizations create clearer paths to jobs and resolve talent shortages.
Ekhtiari said the company’s founding question has shaped its direction since the start.
“A mission that began with a simple question of ‘What if everyone had a GPS for their career?’ has turned into years of working closely with government and industry leaders to respond to — and solve for — the impacts of digital transformation and AI on jobs and people. Our partnership with Achieve will accelerate our work to build and scale the missing workforce transition infrastructure that our country and the world so badly need at this moment.”
