UKG has launched a voice-enabled artificial intelligence feature that lets frontline employees use Siri or Google Assistant to check their schedules, review timecards and manage direct deposit information, all without stepping away from their work.
The workforce management software company announced the tool, called Bryte Voice, as part of its latest quarterly platform update on Aug. 27. The company said it is the first voice-enabled AI in the human capital management industry built specifically for frontline workers.
“Voice AI is bigger than convenience. It’s about trust in frontline work and the people doing it,” said Jason Averbook, a veteran HCM analyst and co-founder of Now to Next. “When technology lives in the flow of a nurse’s shift, a store associate’s day, or a technician’s route, instead of pulling people away from those moments, it sends a clear message: their work matters more than the interface. That’s trust. Every extra click, search, and handoff creates friction. But when tools are intentionally designed for how frontline work actually happens, confidence goes up, burden goes down, and work moves.”
Bryte Voice allows workers to open UKG Pro through their smart assistant and ask natural-language questions such as what is on their schedule for the week, where they are working that day, who else on their team is on shift, or whether there is an issue with their timecard. Employees can also ask if they have enough vacation time to take off, or request a change to their direct deposit information.
The feature will launch with 12 voice actions, with more planned for future platform updates, the company said.
UKG framed the release around three challenges it said chief human resources officers face in managing frontline workforces: cutting administrative friction for employees, hiring at scale, and paying people accurately.
“Frontline work is where strategy becomes execution, and where decisions around people, compliance, service, and trust happen in real time,” said Suresh Vittal, chief product officer at UKG. “CHROs need AI that does more than inform. They need AI that uses context to orchestrate action and help people move work forward. That is what UKG has built with our Workforce Operating Platform: a system of action for the frontline.”
On the hiring side, UKG introduced AI-assisted tools for high-volume recruiting. The system offers job recommendations to candidates and can generate AI profile summaries, allowing recruiters to advance up to 100 candidates through the hiring process at once. UKG said the feature is aimed at high-turnover roles and situations where employers are staffing up a new location.
The company also rolled out what it calls Agentic Pay, a set of AI tools meant to catch payroll errors before pay runs are finalized. The feature lets payroll administrators use natural language to investigate pay activity and review pay history ahead of processing.
UKG cited its own 2026 research showing organizations can lose up to four per cent of annual revenue to payroll errors, which it attributed to inaccurate data, manual processes, fragmented systems and fraud.
The new capabilities are built on UKG’s Workforce Operating Platform, which the company says unifies HR, payroll and workforce management data with AI. UKG said the platform is used by more than 80,000 organizations worldwide.
