The CSL Group has been named one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People for the fourth year in a row, highlighting its commitment to developing the next generation of maritime professionals. The Montreal-based company, which specializes in marine transportation, announced the recognition today.
Young professionals make up roughly 10% of CSL’s workforce, including cadets and interns. Stéphanie Aubourg, Chief Human Resources Officer, said the company values the fresh perspectives young employees bring to the organization.
“We believe in creating a workplace that nurtures their growth, supports their ambitions, and empowers them to make a meaningful impact in the maritime sector,” Aubourg said.
CSL offers a variety of programs tailored to young workers, including paid internships, co-op placements, summer jobs, and a cadet sponsorship program for aspiring seafarers. Once on board, employees benefit from development plans, training programs, and tuition reimbursement to help them build long-term careers within the company.
“Our goal is to provide a supportive, inclusive environment where young people can succeed and envision a long-term career with CSL,” Aubourg said.
New hires are introduced to the maritime industry through hands-on onboarding programs. Cadets gain practical experience on CSL vessels, while corporate employees have opportunities to visit ships and learn about the company’s operations. Young employees also participate in leadership development initiatives designed to prepare them for future roles within the organization.
CSL’s recognition comes from Canada’s Top Employers for Young People, an annual competition that evaluates companies based on their programs for attracting, mentoring, and developing young professionals.
CSL, headquartered in Montreal, is a leading provider of marine transportation and the world’s largest operator of self-unloading ships. It serves industries including construction, steel, energy, and agri-food across the Americas, Australia, Europe, and Africa.
